What are papillomas and why do they appear?
Papillomas are small skin-brown or brown-colored skin growths. It is very often confused with moles especially when it is located on the face.
It is most commonly observed in the eyelids, neck folds, armpits or neckline. Viral agents have been incriminated in their development, which is why they spread very easily and multiply by self-inoculation. They can be sessile meaning in close contact with the skin or they can be held by the skin through a small pedicle. From a single papilloma a multitude of such formations can develop, especially in the fold areas due to the prolonged contact “skin to skin”. Diabetic or overweight people are more prone to developing papillomas.
How is it treated?
Modern therapy involves their elimination by thermal destruction. Plasma IQ destroys the root papilloma from the first sitting. Plasma is created between the tip of the device and the patient’s skin, which has the ability to sublimate (evaporate) the controlled lesion and lead to the collagen fibers contraction that offers the lifting effect after the treatment. The treatment is highly selective, it does not influence the surrounding tissues.
The procedure is performed with local anesthetic with cream or injectable so that it is completely painless. A few days after treatment you will need to use a special healing cream for the skin to epithelially normalize and not to be left with signs or scars.
The main reason why we treat these formations is related to their aesthetic aspect but also the tendency to increase in size and uncontrolled multiplication.
Prevention of papillomas
It is very difficult to predict their occurrence but it is recommended to start an early treatment, from the first formation that appeared to avoid their proliferation. So:
- Avoid wearing neck chains because they can spread the virus from one place to another. Disinfection or cleaning of jewelry does not seem to be of any help.
- Avoid wearing too tight collars, advice especially for men who wear shirts and close the buttons up.
- Do not try “ear-to-ear” treatments because you may aggravate them. The topical solutions that manage to burn the formations can affect the surrounding healthy skin and cause burns.
Remarks
Warning: do not confuse the papillomas with the moles (nephews)! Although their appearance may be similar, the treatment methods are completely different and only the dermatologist can differentiate them with certainty. Dermatoscopy is the method by which the skin formations are analyzed and we can indicate the lesions that can be safely removed.
